About Us

The Ranka Group is a conglomerate of companies in fields that range from real estate development and housing finance to jewellery, textiles, mining and fitness equipment. The Group started operations in Mumbai in the late 1940s with a modest jewellery showroom. In just a few years, more showrooms were added, the Group diversified into textiles and spread its wings further South to Bangalore, Erode and Coimbatore. Bangalore, then, had just started attracting new businesses and people. Sensing a growth opportunity, the Ranka Group made a foray into the city’s real estate market.

As early as the 1970s, the Group pioneered the concept of self-sustained apartment complexes. The first project at Gandhinagar was completed in 1979 and sold at Rs. 111 per sq ft. Queen’s Corner at the junction of Cunningham Road and Queen’s Road followed and set the trend for luxury apartment living at the city’s most high profile addresses. Since then, the Group has delivered almost 30 million sft of space spread over 40+ projects. Most of these projects are within a 7 km radius of MG Road, Bangalore’s nerve centre. Today, they stand testimony to the keen business acumen and customer focussed sensibilities of the Ranka Group.

Realestate Development

Real estate development is the primary focus of the Ranka Group and Ranka Developers Pvt Ltd. is the flagship company of the Group. Established in 1979, the company acquired prime properties in the heart of the city and developed luxury apartment buildings all of which were completed and handed over well ahead of schedule. This helped the Ranka Group build a reputation of trust and reliability and soon the Ranka Group became a leading name in the business known for ideal locations, clear titles, timely completions, high returns on investment and superior build quality.

What distinguishes the Group from others in the market, is the in-house expertise it has built in construction and construction management. Every aspect of the business - civil, electrical and sanitary - is handled in-house ensuring strict quality control, disciplined financial planning and adherence to stipulated time schedules.

Today, the Group’s projects are spread across the length and breadth of Bangalore with about 60% of them concentrated at the centre. 3 million sft of space has been completed and delivered and almost 2000 families live happy and contented lives in a Ranka home. The Group has also delivered commercial buildings at prime locations and some of Bangalore’s most iconic properties are now under development.

Housing Finance

Close on the heels of its real estate development business, the Ranka Group had also ventured into the realm of housing finance in the early 1980’s. It’s finance company - Residency Housing Finance Limited - was India’s first privately listed housing finance company and the country’s third such undertaking after HUDCO & HDFC.

The aim of the company was to assist middle class and lower middle class families acquire their dream homes with minimal fuss and paper work.

The projects undertaken have all been delivered as per requirements within stipulated time frames and costs. Some of our Clients include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), LIC, Bangalore City Corporation (BBMP) among others.

Construction Material

Construction is a big part of the Group’s activity and diversifying into the manufacture of construction material was a natural growth trajectory. Ranka Blocks Mfg. Pvt. Ltd. manufactures cement adhesive “perfect” bricks at the Group’s plant in Bangalore.

Fully automated, the plant equipment and knowhow has been acquired from the UK and apart from serving the Group’s own projects, the cement bricks manufactured here are used across the industry and valued for their clean lines and perfection.

The Group’s main business of real estate development allows economies of scale and at every stage from design and material procurement to execution and finishing, customers benefit through reduced costs.

Jewellery

Having started its journey with a modest jewellery showroom in Mumbai, the Ranka Group grew it’s jewellery retail business by tying up with Gitanjali Group – the pioneers of branded jewellery and organized jewellery retailing in India. The Joint venture’s showroom here in Bangalore located right below our Corporate Office houses jewellery by majors like DTC's Nakshatra & Asmi, Sangini, D'Damas, Gili, Maya, Revv, Disney, Aquamarin & Desire.

All these brands, now available under one roof at Ranka’s showrooms provide a world class, luxury ambience to jewellery shoppers.

Textiles

Starting off from a humble beginning, Ranka Group’s textile division has evolved over the years into a modern textile and silk showroom under the dynamic leadership of its chairman, Mr B H Ranka.

Mr. B H started his career in Bangalore in a silk saree showroom and that passion and ethics of his yesteryears has transpired down to today’s modern day working culture. Ranka Group under its textile business is a partner in Arun Silks, dealing in Silk Saree and Fabrics Retailing in Bangalore.

Renewable Energy

The Ranka Group has always been very ecologically conscious and in almost all their projects, energy saving mechanisms have been inbuilt into design and construction.

That apart, to further the cause of a cleaner and greener world, the Group has also set up a wind energy farm at Jogimatti Hills in Chitradurga in Karnataka. The farm generates almost 75,00,000 kilowatts of power every year and advance power purchase agreements are in place so that the power generated feeds the national grid.

Wind energy system operations do not generate air or water emissions and do not produce hazardous waste. Nor do they deplete natural resources such as coal, oil, or gas, or cause environmental damage through resource extraction and transportation. Wind's pollution-free electricity can help reduce the environmental damage caused by power generation in India and worldwide.

The 8 million kilowatt-hours currently generated by our wind plant each year have displaced some 60,000 tons of carbon dioxide, 330 tons of sulphur dioxide (1 ton per day), and 200 tons of nitrogen oxides (half ton per day).

The Energy Division is now also expanding into solar energy and other forms of renewable energy.
